Lauryshava evangelist

The Lauryshava Evangelistary is an illustrated manuscript from the early 14th century from the Lauryshava monastery in what is now Belarus .

The oldest dating of a document in the text is from 1329, the manuscript probably originated during this time. On 336 sheets of parchment it contains the texts from the Gospels ( pericopes ) for the liturgy of each day of the church year with the exception of the Great Lent before Easter, for which only Saturdays and Sundays are taken into account. In addition, some documents relating to the monastery are registered. Eighteen colored miniatures have been preserved, four from the evangelists , 12 from the contents of the Gospels and one each from the Old Testament Job and the Archangel Gabriel.

The manuscript is now in the Czartoryski Museum in Kraków .
