The Burgstall Sterneck is an abandoned hilltop castle or settlement in the Landshut district of Wolfsbach in the Frauenberg district.

The complex is registered as a ground monument with the number D-2-7439-0268 by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation .

State of research

Sterneck is still largely unexplored. Historians and archaeologists describe the area as a former fortified place ( castle ), which is now a castle stables. The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation generally describes Sterneck as a settlement of prehistoric times, the Latène period and the Middle Ages or modern times . Although the area has been included in the Bavarian List of Monuments , investigations are still pending and behavior has not yet been established.

history

A document from 1298 refers to Hilprant von Teining and his wife Gertrud as the owners of Sterneck. They handed the Gülte their goods Sterneck and Schaumburg as Seelgerät the monastery Seligenthal .

Another document from the archives of Au Castle in Au in the Hallertau from 1460 names Hanns Sternecker zu Sterneck as a witness to a sale of a Baumannsrecht.

In the court system books and goods conscriptions from the 18th century, Sterneck is described as the property of the Seligenthal monastery, which belongs to the Frauenberg chairmanship.
