The Palais Etzdorf is a former residence of the noble family Etzdorff in the old town of Landshut in Lower Bavaria . It has the address Ländgasse 50 and is only about a hundred meters west of the Martinskirche .

history

On the property in the Oberen Länd , which was divided into two parts before 1692, there is evidence of a house owned by the Barons of Etzdorf from 1717 onwards. However, the palace in its current form was probably not built until around 1745. Today it is owned by the Landshut brewery C. Wittmann , which has its administrative headquarters there.

description

The palace is a stately three-storey hipped roof building in a corner, built around 1745 in the Rococo style. The richly stuccoed rococo facade was probably made by Johann Baptist Zimmermann . In the triangular gable on the east side is the coat of arms of the builders, Vicedom Franz Freiherr von Etzdorf († 1772) and his wife Maria Theresia († 1776), a born Countess von Lamberg, whose tomb is attached to the outside of the Martinskirche. One floor below there is an oval cartouche with a representation of Maria Immaculata in the middle of the seven window axis . The entrance gate at the southeast corner of the building is flanked by two columns of the Tuscan order .

Inside there are numerous corridors with cross vaults . In the 18th century, some rooms were also decorated with wall paintings, which, with one exception, have not been preserved on a window sill on the first floor.

Surrounding buildings

Next to the palace there are two late Gothic narrow houses (Ländgasse 49 and Ländgasse 49a) with a saddle roof and crenellated gable , built around 1500. The facade of both buildings was given an elaborate rough plaster decor in the 17th century . Today they are used as residential and commercial buildings.
