Lava River Cave is a lava tube in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument in Oregon .

It is about 1.6 km long. Its discovery was attributed to a hunter in 1889, but since obsidian artefacts have been found, it has been believed that North American Indians knew about it beforehand. It originated around 80,000 years ago. It is located on the east side of US Highway 97 between Bend, Oregon and La Pine . It is administered by the United States Forest Service .
