Architecture in Lavasa

Lavasa ( Marathi : लवासा , lavāsā) is a planned city built since 2002 for about 200,000–400,000 inhabitants in the Indian state of Maharashtra with an area of 100 km². It is located about 200 km southeast of the metropolis of Mumbai . It is stylistically based on the Italian Portofino .

Critics argue that the building of the city will drive the local tribal population out of their traditional settlement area.
