Lawson Software is a US provider of software and service solutions for companies. The NASDAQ- listed company is based in St. Paul , Minnesota .

Lawson Software delivers software and service solutions in the areas of production, trade, maintenance and service to around 4,500 customers worldwide in 2008. Lawson software solutions include enterprise performance management , supply chain management , enterprise resource planning , customer relationship management , manufacturing resource planning, enterprise asset management and industry-specific applications.

Development of the company

Lawson Software was founded in Minneapolis in 1975 as Lawson Associates by brothers Richard and Bill Lawson and John Cerullo. They focused on business hardware and software solutions for medium and small companies ( SMEs ). In the 1970s and 1980s the company was able to develop steadily and in 1990 already had 250 employees with annual sales of 30 million USD .

In the years that followed, the company opened its first branches outside the USA . In 2005 Lawson merged with the Swedish ERP provider Intentia and thus improved its position in the market for enterprise resource planning software.

In 2009 Lawson Software operates in 40 countries and employs around 4,000 people. Revenue at the end of the fiscal year on May 31, 2008 was $ 851.9 million and net income was $ 13.7 million. In 2011, the company was taken over by competitor Infor Global Solutions for around two billion dollars.
