Layer Road was a multi-purpose stadium in Colchester , England . Until July 2008, the Colchester United football club played its home games there. The stadium was built in 1909 and last had a capacity of 6000 seats. However, the attendance record is 19,072 during the FA Cup game Colchester United against Reading FC in November 1948.
For the 2008/09 season Colchester United moved into the 10,000-seat Weston Homes Community Stadium , which was opened as the Colchester Community Stadium.
