Le Groupe Amos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Le Groupe Amos (founded in 1989 in Kinshasa ) Democratic Republic of the Congo is a group of nonviolent activists , consisting of the members Flory Kayembe Shamba , José Mpundu , Thierry N'Landu Mayamba and Jos Das . Le Groupe Amos is named after the Old Testament prophet Amos , who, according to legend, fought for social justice.

Le Groupe Amos has produced a wealth of didactic material in collaboration with various Congolese citizens' groups, including video documentaries, theater productions, painting, radio broadcasts and publications. Groupe Amos' commitment to transforming Congolese society through nonviolent means is evident in its numerous inspiring and informative projects. The plight of women in particular is the subject of short video documentations.

Guided by confidence and the belief in the moralization of all people, Le Groupe Amos also produces teaching materials, brochures and picture books on various topics, including free and democratic elections, local history and culture. Another means of disseminating their discussion and information material on these issues is through the production and broadcasting of radio programs.

A selection of the radio programs was broadcast at Documenta11 , and printed material and videos were also shown.
