The Journal amusant was a French weekly satirical paper that appeared from early 1856 to late 1933. Its forerunner was the Journal pour rire , founded in 1848 .

The founder of the Journal amusant was the cartoonist Charles Philipon , whose family retained ownership for several decades. In the 1860s, Nadar served as editor-in-chief. During the First World War , the publication of the paper was interrupted for five years. When it was closed, the Journal amusant was the oldest humorous magazine in France. Caricaturist Edouard Guillaumin and art critic Louis Leroy were among his better-known collaborators.
