Jaguar's Leaper

Leaper [li: pə r ] (of English leap = jump ) is the name of the hood ornament of automobiles of the brand Jaguar . It had been attached to the front of the radiator of Jaguar cars since the 1940s, but was prohibited by law in 1959 due to the high risk of injury to pedestrians in Germany. Jaguar then developed a new hood ornament that folds away when it hits an obstacle. It is no longer available as standard on Jaguar models, but can be purchased from accessory stores. The figure has a general operating permit (ABE).
