Single sign
In heraldry, a single shield ( or single shield ) is a shield that is not occupied by a figure . Consequently, a single shield shows only colors , or, if one counts the divisions of the figures with some heraldists , just a single color. In the description of the coat of arms he is emblazoned as single . If the shield is to be covered with a figure later after an event that changes the coat of arms, it is a waiting sign .
Single shields are often decorated with damascus , but this is a purely decorative design by the artist, without heraldic relevance.
The term single is used if no deviation from the basic version can be identified. For example , it is used in the heraldic animal horse . Horse without a saddle, bridle and the color of the reinforcement is like the animal, then it is single.
A special name is the single angle in the shield. This is the free corner . This is part of the crossing of a small field in one of the upper corners of the coat of arms in the head of the shield . The size is not the fourth part, but the eighth part of the shield.
