Lee Scott

Harold Lee Scott, Jr. (born 1950 ) is an American manager .

From 2000 to 2009 Scott was CEO of the American supermarket chain Wal-Mart , which is the largest employer in the world with over 2.1 million employees. Prior to joining Wal-Mart, Scott studied business administration at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg , Kansas . Since 1979, he worked for Wal-Mart in different functions and belonged since 1999 to the Board of Directors ( Board ) of the company to which he presided from 2000 to 2009. In 2011 he left the company. Scott is known for his rigorous low wage policies and opposition to unions. According to the American Time magazine , Scott was one of the 100 most influential people in 2004 and 2005.
