Leerdammer
Leerdammer is a semi-hard cheese made from cow's milk that has been industrially produced in the Netherlands since 1978 and is a registered trademark . The taste of the cheese invented by Cees Boterkooper and Bastian Baars, which was supposed to combine the qualities of the popular Gouda and Emmentaler varieties , is advertised by the manufacturer as “nutty mild”.
The brand is particularly widespread in Germany , Italy , Austria and France .
Leerdammer is u. a. in the flavor variations Leerdammer original , Leerdammer Lightlife (replaced in 2011 by 20% thinner slices of Leerdammer Léger ), Leerdammer Yoghu , Leerdammer Caractère and Leerdammer Delacrème .
Leerdammer was taken over by Fromageries Bel in 2002.
The factory where the cheese is made is located in Schoonrewoerd , which was part of the municipality of Leerdam and is now part of Vijfheerenlanden .
