Lehmener Lay

Lehmener Lay is the smallest of the four vineyards in Lehmen on the Untermosel (Terrassenmosel).

As 'laia' borrowed from Gallic into Treverian and passed on. The mhd. 'Leie' refers to the slate rock. It is a terraced steep slope on stony slate and greywacke weathered soil. (60% steep, 40% steep). The total area is ~ 3 ha . About 2.3 hectares are cultivated, 1 hectare of which has been organic since 1989 .

The slope is up to 70%, in the east-southeast direction (80 to 150  m above sea  level ).

Approx. 90% of the Riesling variety and about 10% of the Prinzipal variety are grown.
