Design and history
Mud Street is one of the city's major shopping streets and is home to boutiques, souvenir shops, restaurants and nightclubs. A larger complex is the De La Gardie shopping center, which was built in 2000 on the site of a department store destroyed in the Soviet air raid on Reval in 1944. The name goes on dirt road in the 14th century in this area Revaler city walls located Lehmkuhlen back. The Estonian name Viru refers to the Wierland landscape east of the city (Estonian Virumaa ). After the gates of the clay gate were largely demolished in 1888, apart from the remains of the front gate, a horse-drawn tram ran through the clay road.
From September 2015, the clay street was converted into a pedestrian zone . The street lighting was also renewed at the same time.
