The final apprenticeship examination ( LAP ) in Austria is at the end of a dual vocational training apprenticeship / vocational school (also called apprenticeship or apprenticeship). It checks the level of knowledge of the trainee or whether he has acquired the skills and knowledge appropriate for his apprenticeship and can use them in practice.

In Austria, the final apprenticeship examination is carried out by the local Chamber of Commerce . The acquittal with the guild vow of loyalty and the journeyman's letter have only symbolic meaning .

Registration for the final apprenticeship examination is carried out by the trainer or the apprentice and can take place no earlier than six months before the end of the training period. Registration takes place via the training center of the Chamber of Commerce. An existing apprenticeship relationship and a diploma from the vocational school are required for registration. Extraordinary admission to the final apprenticeship examination (e.g. in the second educational path or if an apprenticeship is lost) is possible.

exam

The apprenticeship training ends at the end of the apprenticeship period, which usually lasts 3 to 4 years. The final apprenticeship examination can then be taken, but does not have to be. It can be taken at the earliest 10 weeks before the end of the apprenticeship period.

The final apprenticeship examination consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The exam can be repeated three times.
