As Lei ( hawaiian , pl. Nā Lei or Lei ) refers to the in Hawaii conventional necklace from flowers (e.g., orchids ), seeds, springs, or other materials. In earlier times, animal teeth or human hair were also used.

High-ranking people ( aliʻi ) and guests are honored with leis, this jewelry is also worn on festive occasions in Hawaiʻi. In addition to these formal and personal occasions, leis for tourists are also part of an exotic greeting on arrival or at tourist events. The lei is used in the flag of the Northern Mariana Islands .
