Light roof

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term lightweight roof refers to roof elements whose weight does not exceed 10 kg / m². In contrast to conventional roof tiles whose weight is between 40 and 100 kg / m², light roofs are often used for weak roof trusses with static problems.

commitment

Areas of application are above all canopies, garage roofs, carport roofs but also industrial buildings and single-family houses. However, lightweight roof elements have advantages not only in terms of weight, but also in terms of appearance and resistance. For this reason, lightweight roofs represent a real alternative to traditional roofing . Large-format lightweight roof panels are preferred, especially in areas with a low roof pitch . They enable complete coverage without a horizontal joint.

materials

Some materials that are used in the construction of lightweight roofs are steel , aluminum , fiber cement , bitumen or plastic . In contrast to conventional roof shingles, these materials are relatively easy to work and shape. Among other things, because of their processing options and their malleability. Processing at the construction site is also possible without any problems.

optics

Diverse optics such as roof tiles, slate shingles, beaver roofs, trapezoidal and corrugated sheets increase the architectural design freedom.

laying

The installation is usually back-ventilated. The old roof can often be retained due to its low weight. This means that normal operation can be continued under the roof. Furthermore, there are no disposal costs. The time aspect is also not to be neglected. Light roofs are often available as large-format panels, so that the installation time is short. However, if the lightweight roof is damaged, complete elements often have to be replaced, whereas with conventional roofing only the affected tiles have to be replaced.
