Leif Miller

Leif Dirk Miller (* 1967 in East Berlin ) is a German biologist and managing director of the NABU Federal Association .

Life

The biologist, born in East Berlin in 1967, comes from the East German environmental movement. From 1978 he was active in the ornithology department of the Society for Nature and Environment . In 1985 he became a certified scientific bird ringer. The following year he did an internship at the Hiddensee ornithological station .

1989/90 Miller was a founding member of the Green League . Since 1991 he has been managing director and since 2001 honorary state chairman of the GRÜNEN LIGA LV Berlin eV In 1994 he became a member of the board of trustees of the Berlin Nature Conservation Foundation . From October 1994 to June 1995 he headed the KLIMA-FORUM '95 project, which served as the information and coordination point for the German associations for the 1995 UN climate summit in Berlin.

Before he became managing director of NABU in June 2005, he was head of the NABU Federal Representation in Berlin and from February 2004 Federal Political Director of NABU. Furthermore, he is chairman of the board of trustees of the Michael Succow Foundation for environmental protection and first vice-president of the umbrella association of the German nature conservation ring (DNR).

In his free time, Miller runs organic farming in the state of Brandenburg and breeds old breeds of domestic animals that are threatened with extinction . He is married and has a daughter.
