Leifkenstadt

Leifkenstadt is a nature reserve in the municipality of Hille . It is around 1.5 hectares and is listed under the designation MI-017.

It is located north of the district of Nordhemmern .

The protection should serve to maintain and further develop the diverse structured biotope complex . The nature reserve has developed from a former sand pit through succession and is a spawning site for rare amphibian species . From the juxtaposition of ponds , large and small bodies of water sedge and reeds , bushes, ruderal and Hochstaudenfluren is a refuge created for rare animal and plant species.

The area also has a special function for the networking of the still existing amphibian habitats in the local area. Many animal species living here are on the red list of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
