Altes Moor (Minden-Lübbecke district)
The Altes Moor nature reserve is located in the town of Espelkamp and in the municipality of Hille in the Minden-Lübbecke district in East Westphalia . It is around 60.5 hectares and is listed under the designation MI-019.
It is east of the Frotheim district and north of the Mittelland Canal .
protection
The protection is placed to preserve one of the larger intact fens in northern Germany. The nature reserve is intended to serve as a refuge for rare animal and plant species. Together with the area “ Großes Torfmoor ” it forms the FFH area “Großes Torfmoor, Altes Moor” (FFH area number 3618-301, size approx. 605 ha). The vegetation in the area is rich in structure and consists of swamp forests , wet meadows and wet heaths. It is an important habitat for various bird species during breeding and migratory seasons . The common snipe , teal and teal are to be mentioned here .
