Frotheim is a district of Espelkamp in the Minden-Lübbecke district , Detmold administrative district ( Ostwestfalen-Lippe ).
Frotheim is a medium-sized village with around 3000 inhabitants.
location
The village is in a rural and peaceful setting. In the northwest lies the small town of Espelkamp , to which Frotheim belongs under administrative law. To the south lies Lübbecke , to the east of Minden , the two district towns (so-called mill district Minden-Lübbecke ), to which Frotheim belongs. Mayor is Wilhelm Stockmann (CDU).
history
On January 1, 1973 Frotheim was incorporated into Espelkamp. A part of the area with ten inhabitants was reclassified to Lübbecke.
economy
There are various small and medium-sized companies in Frotheim. There is a campsite on the outskirts of Frotheim .
Others
Frotheim's forests are ideal for bicycle tours. The Osterwald in the north and the north-western forest area in the district of Diekerort (near Espelkamp) on the "Hexenhügel" are popular excursion destinations.
In the village you will find the Alte Klus , a half-timbered chapel that was built in 1818. In 1987 the renovation was completed with the renewal of the west gable; today it is used for weddings and services. The Frotheim Open Air , a music festival of harder or alternative rock music, has taken place annually since 2008 .
Furthermore, the threshing and baking day, which serves to maintain customs, takes place at the Stockmann farm every year at the end of August. The festival for young and old includes threshing demonstrations according to old tradition, a trade show, a children's flea market, an old tractor exhibition and much more.
The Mittelland Canal is located directly on the southern outskirts of Frotheim. There you can also find the Frotheimer Moor, which was previously used to extract peat ; today a hiking and educational trail is laid out there.
The largest club in town is VfL Frotheim .
