Location of Gestringen in Espelkamp

Gestringen is a town in the East Westphalian town of Espelkamp in North Rhine-Westphalia . Gestringen has approx. 1,800 inhabitants and is located in the south of the city of Espelkamp. Mayor is Max Grote (CDU).

Until December 31, 1972, Gestringen was part of the municipality of Alswede in the Alswede district. On January 1, 1973, the municipality of Alswede was divided, and the village of Gestringen became a part of the enlarged town of Espelkamp.

Location description

There is a snack bar, an inn (Gestringer Hof) with a restaurant and a specialty shop for musical instruments. The place also has a drugstore (Emmerling), a butcher shop and a bakery, which has been in existence for over 60 years. A rainwater retention basin, completed in 2016, now takes up the area of ​​a large former recreational meadow.
