The Limberg and Offelter Berg nature reserve is located in the town of Preußisch Oldendorf in the East Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke . It is around 186.1  hectares and is listed under the designation MI-027.

It is located in the extreme east of the Egge , a side ridge of the Wiehengebirge , and is surrounded by the localities of the Preußisch Oldendorfer districts of Preußisch Oldendorf in the northwest, Offelten in the north, Bad Holzhausen in the east and Börninghausen in the south. The areas of the eponymous mountains, the Limberg and the Offelter Berg, are essentially part of the protected area.

The nature reserve was designated as early as 1935, making it the oldest in the Minden-Lübbecke district and one of the oldest in Westphalia .

It was placed under protection because of the rarity and special character of the area and to maintain and restore communities as a refuge for threatened and endangered wild animal and plant species .

The contiguous forest area on the hills of the Limberg and Offelterberg is particularly worthy of protection. As part of the Lübbecker Eggen natural area , the area is characterized by a near-natural woodruff beech forest with a species-rich herb layer, stream upper courses and spring areas . In addition, the are Luzulo beech forests , the maple - ash -Hangwald and reed beds , orchards and Hochstaudenfluren obtain.
