Börninghausen is a village in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Minden-Lübbecke district and is part of the city of Preußisch Oldendorf .
location
With around 2,200 inhabitants, Börninghausen is the main town of the Eggetal , a mountain valley in the Wiehengebirge, and forms a local sub-center here, as a kindergarten, church and volunteer fire brigade are centrally located here . Located in the valley floor, the town center (reference: St. Ulricus Church) is 84 m above sea level. NN. North-east of the village is the Limberg on which Limberg Castle is located.
history
Börninghausen was first mentioned in documents over 1,000 years ago: On August 15, 993, Börninghausen was referred to as Brunnenhuson - the German King Otto III. took the monastery founded by the Minden Bishop Milo von Minden on the Wittekindsberg near Minden under his protection and confirmed the foundation of the monastery in a document. In order to secure the livelihood of the monastery, this bishop also gave the monastery goods and farms in Börninghausen.
Until the regional reform, Börninghausen formed an independent municipality with the neighboring villages of Eininghausen and Börninghausen-Masch. The community thus included the entire Westphalian Eggetal. With the Bielefeld law , Börninghausen became a district of Preußisch Oldendorf on January 1, 1973.
From 1843 to 1890 the municipality of Börninghausen formed its own office , which was co-administered by the Oldendorf office in personal union.

Börninghausen has its own Protestant parish , to which, in addition to the above-mentioned localities, Büscherheide in Lower Saxony also belongs. The St. Ulricus Church was built in the 13th century and contains a remarkable Gothic murals.
Transport and economy
With the demand stop "Mesch Neue Mühle" on the Bünde - Rahden railway line , Börninghausen is connected to the German railway network. The breakpoint is on the border to Rödinghausen .
The L 557 runs through the village from Bad Holzhausen via Bünde to Bielefeld .
