Hedem is a place with 747 inhabitants on the Mittelland Canal and a district of Preußisch Oldendorf in the East Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Hedem was an independent community in the Alswede district ( Lübbecke district ). On October 1, 1928, the Hollwinkel manor district was fully incorporated. Parts of the Ellerburg estate were also added. On January 1, 1973, the place was incorporated into Preußisch Oldendorf.

To the north of the Mittelland Canal, on both sides of the Great Aue, lies the Ellerburger Wiesen nature reserve , which is largely based on the agricultural areas of the Ellerburg estate.

The largest Hedemer association is the Hedem village community.
