Leila Toubel (2014)

Leila Toubel ( Arabic ليلى طوبال* In Hammam Lif ) is a Tunisian actress and playwright .

Life

At the age of 13, Leila Toubel began acting in school, a passion that she later turned into her profession. In 1990 she met Ezzedine Gannoun at an audition at the national Arab-African training center of the El Hamra Theater in Tunis . This encounter was crucial for her professional career. A long and intensive collaboration began. Among other things, she supported Ezzedine Gannoun in directing the El Hamra Theater.

In 2000 Leila left the theater scene and paused until 2010. She processed her time at the theater and tried to understand who she is and who she could be on stage.

From 2011 to 2012 she directed the international festival in Boukornine. In June 2013 she resigned from this position to publicize the pressure of the League to Protect the Revolution on the theater.

On July 27, 2015, she performed her monodrama Solwen at the international festival in Carthage in the Saint Cyprian Basilica. Solwen describes the political and social realities in Tunisia after the revolution and denounces the characters of the Troïke, machism and obscurantism .
