Eutritzscher Freiladebahnhof (internal administration: development plan no. 416) is the name of an urban development project in Leipzig . A new small district is to be created.

history

The open loading tracks and connections on a former site of the Deutsche Bahn in the city district Mitte, district Zentrum-Nord were part of the Leipzig MTh station (Magdeburg-Thuringian station). The name "Eutritzscher Freiladebahnhof" used for the construction project was only created because of the location of the outdoor loading facilities on Eutritzscher and Delitzscher Strasse, but it was never used on the railway side.

Project

2000 apartments for 3300 people are to be built on the site, as well as a central park, three high-rise buildings, parking spaces, businesses, restaurants, shops, two schools and two kindergartens for 330 children. The area is bounded by the Leipzig-Wahren – Leipzig Hbf railway line , Roscherstrasse, Eutritzscher Strasse and Delitzscher Strasse.

The Berlin CG Group organized a competition, the results of which were exhibited in September 2017. The proportion of rented apartments is set at 70 percent. 30 percent of the apartments should be linked to rent. The area of the area is 25 hectares. The architect is the Octagon architecture collective from Leipzig, the landscape architecture is designed by Atelier Loidl from Berlin. It is currently the largest housing project in the city. Around one billion euros are to be invested.

In March 2019 it became known that the CG Group had sold the space to an unknown Viennese company, but wanted to carry out the construction work as planned.

The project led to local criticism because as a result of the project two clubs, the “ TV Club ” and “So & So” had to give way, which resulted in a further break in the Leipzig club culture.
