Achievement badge

The performance test - The group in fire fighting is a performance badge of the Free State of Bavaria for all members of fire departments . It can be taken by fire fighters aged 16 and over and fire fighters. There are six levels (bronze, silver, gold, gold-blue, gold-green, gold-red). The group and device are checked. Therefore, for example, the group cannot pass despite an otherwise exemplary test due to a defective pump motor. It can be stored in three variants.

The main goal is the thorough training of the participants and to give the participants a basic structure for the mission.

history

The badge was donated by the Bavarian State Office for Fire Protection in May 1959.

requirements

The group leader and the machinist must be 18 years old. The remaining participants 16 years. If variant III is carried out with respiratory protection, four respiratory protection wearers must participate. The squad leader should have completed his course and must have completed the squad leader. The machinist must have completed the machinist course. Level 1 must have started the squad part 1 and level 2 must have completed it. Stage 3 must have completed Part 2 of the squad. The previous performance test must be two years ago. Fire brigade gloves, firefighter boots (up to 16 sturdy shoes), training suit and firefighter helmet are to be worn during acceptance. With variant III additional equipment is required. The devices used should comply with the standards and accident prevention regulations. The acceptance is carried out by two Bavarian fire department referees and a timekeeper.

Difference in levels

At level 1, the participants' poses are filed before the exam. From level 2 all positions except machinist and group leader are drawn. From level 3 an additional task has to be completed.

Initially, all participants except the group leader have to demonstrate a fixed knot ( chest collar with spar stitch , half hitch , mast throw , pierced mast throw with spar stitch and carpenter's knot ).

Additional tasks

From level 3 an additional task has to be completed.

Device knowledge

The participants of level 3 have to draw two cards and name where the device is stowed in the fire engine.

First aid

The participants of level 4 have to describe the procedure in different first aid situations.

Hazardous goods and information signs

Level 5 participants have to name two signs.

Test questions

Level 6 participants have to answer a questionnaire.

Further process

Variation I.

In variant I, an external attack with water supply via a hydrant is simulated. The group has 190 seconds. The group has to build a water supply from the hydrant and splash down three buckets. A suction line is then to be connected and a dry suction test to be carried out.

Variation II

In variant II, an external attack with water supply via a suction line is simulated. The group has 240 seconds. The group has to build up a water supply with the help of a suction line and splash down three buckets.

Variation III

In variant III, an internal attack with water supply via a hydrant is simulated. The group has 300 seconds. The group has to build a water supply from the hydrant and splash down three buckets. A suction line is then to be connected and a dry suction test to be carried out.

evaluation

The performance test is passed if the group has fewer than 41 fault points. At level 1 the limit is 26 error points.

badge

After passing the performance test, the performance badge is presented and, if necessary, authorization to wear it is confirmed in writing. The highest-ranking badge is worn on the left breast pocket.
