Ladder stitch

Ladder stitch

The ladder stitch (also called "magic seam", "invisible seam" or "mattress stitch ") is a type of seam with which pieces of fabric can be invisibly sewn together from the right side of the fabric. The ladder stitch is usually used when closing filled parts such as plush toys or pillows .

The ladder stitch, the seam pattern of which is reminiscent of the rungs of a ladder , pulls the fabric parts together inwards and thus hides the seam. An even and clean result can be achieved in this way. A filled piece of fabric can only be sewn from the outside, i.e. visibly, which results in an uneven and not so beautiful seam appearance with other seams.
