The Church of St. James the Apostle is a Catholic church in Kurtuvėnai , Šiauliai district , on the left bank of the Kurtuva . The baroque church is subordinate to the Deanery Šiauliai ( Diocese of Šiauliai ) in Lithuania .

history

The first church on the hill fort was built between 1472 and 1495 by Mykolas Jogelavičius. This is also mentioned in a document in 1597. Next to the church there was a bell tower with two bells and a rectory. After 1614 an evangelical church was built in Kurtuvėnai.

After the Catholic church built in 1684, the current church was built from 1783 to 1796.
