Lemme Rossi
Lemme Rossi († 1673 ) was an Italian music theorist.
His main work on music theory, Sistema musico, ouero Musica speculativa doue si spiegano i più celebri sistemi di tutti i tre generi , was published in Perugia in 1666 . In this work he works out an interval division of the octave into 31 equal sub-intervals and an instrument tuning that corresponds to the major third-midrange.
An equally tempered octave division into 31 undertones was developed by Christian Huygens (1629–1695) , independently of Lemme Rossi .
