The Lenautheater - Theater im Lenausaal is the theater in Stockerau that is regularly used . It has 140 seats and the season lasts from late September to mid-June.

Emergence

In 2000 the old brewery, a baroque building in the middle of the city of Stockerau, was extensively converted into an event location. The top floor was named Lenausaal and is part of the Z2000 event center. Small events of all kinds were now held under the old roof structure. In the summer of 2009 this room was converted into a theater by the municipality of Stockerau, which is now run by Richard Maynau in a year-round operation . Well-known Austrian artists have taken on the patronage of the theater, including Felix Dvorak , Ernst Stankovski , Luzia Nistler and Christoph Fälbl .

Naming

The name of the theater refers to the Austrian writer Nikolaus Lenau (1802-1850), who was artistically active in Stockerau.

Goal setting and schedule

The new stage sees itself as a preliminary stage to a city theater and is run under the name Lenautheater - Theater im Lenausaal . Several in-house productions, many guest performances, and above all the children's and youth theater are on the program every year. Following the idea of a city theater, these productions are supplemented by theater-related events (readings or literary competitions).

The aim of the theater is to address new audiences for theater productions in Stockerau and the Weinviertel, and to inspire young people for theater through the strong children's theater work. A corresponding cultural mandate from the community was given, and since the city of Stockerau is a co-founder of the theater, there is an effort to actively expand the theater business over the next few years.

legal form

The organizer is the municipality of Stockerau, and Richard Maynau , who is also the founder of the theater, took over artistic responsibility as artistic director in summer 2009.
