Lengtal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lengtal is a left side valley of the Binntal . It branches off from the Binntal in a southerly direction, where the Binntal turns to the east.

At the entrance to the Lengtal is the village of Ze Binne , which is the only settlement in the Lengtal that is permanently inhabited. On the right slope of the valley there are some abandoned settlements such as Eigen , Schappelmatte and Leh . The Maiensäss Heilig-Kreuz with the pilgrimage chapel Heilig Kreuz is the largest Maiensäss in the whole valley.

While the east side of the valley belongs to the municipality of Binn , the west side belongs to the municipality of Grengiols . The border runs from the valley exit first along the Lengtalwasser, and then follows the Chriegalpwasser (also spelled Kriegalp) to the Chriegalppass . The Lengtalwasser does not arise until the Maiensäss Heilig Kreuz, here the waters from the Chriegalptal (Chriegalpwasser), Chummibord (with the Chummerwasser fed by the Helsegletscher), Mättital (with the Mättitalwasser fed by the Mättitalgletscher) and Saflischtal (Saflisch Bach) flow together.

To the south of Heilig-Kreuz, on the northern flank of the Helse, there used to be ore mines.
