The steering committee for bioethics ( English Steering Committee on Bioethics , French Comité Directeur pour la Bioéthique , CDBI) was a committee of the Council of Europe .

history

In 1985 the Ad Hoc Committee of Experts on Bioethics (CAHBI) was established under the direct authority of the Council of the European Union . It was responsible for intergovernmental activities of the Council of Europe in the field of bioethics. In 1992 it became the Steering Committee for Bioethics (CDBI).

The Steering Committee for Bioethics was taken over by the Bioethics Committee (Committee on Bioethics, DH-BIO) on January 1, 2012 - as part of the reorganization of the authorities. The reorganization is intended to strengthen the link to the DH-BIO and the Steering Committee for Human Rights serve (Steering Committee on Human Rights, CDDH).
