description
The manor house is located on the A6112 on the western edge of the Scottish-English border town of Lennel, around 200 m north of the left bank of the Tweed , which marks the border. Lennel House, built in 1818, was built by Lord Haddington . He commissioned the architect John Paterson with the planning. The result was a classicist building with an unusual floor plan that is described as butterfly-shaped. A wall separates the forecourt on the north side from the street. Two driveways lead to the property. The masonry of the two-story building consists of stone blocks. Paired columns flank the central main portal on the north side. This is flanked by narrow windows and closes with a combat window . Modern office wings and stables go off to the side. The building closes with a slate roof.
