Lennie Johnson , bourgeois Gerlinde Eger (born September 7, 1953 in Schwabmünchen ) is a German actress. She lives and works in Vienna .
life and career
Lennie Johnson trained as an actress and director in Munich from 1974 to 1977. She is co-founder of the Augsburg collective theater AKT, actress in the Austrian children's and youth theater “Kukuruz” and then a member of the theater group “ Kollektiv Rote Rübe ” for which she worked from 1975 to 1981 as an actor, author and director. The music for the pieces was composed by Konstantin Wecker and Rio Reiser from Ton Steine Scherben .
The tours with this group took her through Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and again and again to France, where she appeared at theaters in Nancy, Strasbourg, Lyon and Paris. With the Scarabaeus Theater Company she later played the Threepenny Opera at the Théatre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris . Lennie Johnson, then still Gerlinde Eger, wrote more than 20 theater / music comedy pieces and staged them in Munich and Vienna. The pieces were realized with public funding. She received script funding and wrote the screenplay "The Beer Crate Factory" based on autobiographical motifs. Between 1990 and 2018 she wrote and composed around 80 songs for her solo programs.
In 1995 she invented the fake / cult figure Lennie Johnson, based on artistic, above all American "hoax" projects. As Lennie Johnson, she pretends to have been a former GDR hit star. In eight successful solo performances, she told and sang into the hearts of her audience. Lennie Johnson released three CDs: In 2000 Wahuaa, 2017 On the day the animals ran out, A penny for your smile. Johnson, who also kept her stage name for private purposes, has been married to the manager Johannes Schmidt since 1995 and lived in London and Chicago from 2003 to 2008. In Chicago she played mainly classic roles such as "Helen of Troy", the Trojan Women (Euripides), "The Innkeepers Wife", The Castle (Kafka), "Miss Prism", The Importance of Beeing Earnest, (Oscar Wilde). She also appeared with the US band Mysteriam.
Lennie Johnson has been a qualified trainer for social and economic skills since 2010 and works as a university lecturer for medical interviewing in the "simulation patient program" (SPP) of the Medical University of Vienna and at the Karl Landsteiner University for Health Sciences in Krems. As a university lecturer for speaking and presentation technology at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna and Karl Landsteiner Private University in Krems. As a trainer / coach for communication, relationship patterns and conflicts in the medical world of work.
