development

Gigi D'Agostino is considered to be the inventor of the Lento-Violento style

The origins of the Lento Violento lie in Gigi D'Agostino's peculiarity of playing songs more slowly than usual in his DJ sets. He began to discover and implement this style for himself as early as the late 1980s. After years of further development, the first Lento Violento piece of music to become known was not by Gigi D'Agostino, but by one of his DJ colleagues: "Ibiza" by Ottomix from 1998. However, the style has not yet become "Lento Violento" called. At this time he was influenced by productions from the trance and techno sectors, such as Lizard or Iguana by Mauro Picotto . Another piece of music with the typical LV sound was Alex Castelli's “Enjoy”, which was co-produced by Ottomix.

Initially only a few songs were known in the clubs; the style remained undefined. The style was only named when Gigi D'Agostino started a series of productions. Voyage (1999) and Ripassa (2003) are among his first LV works. It was Gigi D'Agostino who gave the style its name (he describes himself as "l'inventore del nuovo mondo"). For him, Lento Violento is not just a genre, but a lifestyle. Over time, he refined the style of music in many different directions.

Other artists started producing similar songs. Significant ones are Daniele Mondello , Luca Noise , DJ Pandolfi and DJ Maxwell . There are also DJs among the fans who tend towards the LV. For example, they have the option of having their pieces of music published under the DOS label , which publishes compilations under the name "Movimento Lento" at irregular intervals. On the MySpace page “Suoni Violenti” (Italian: “hard tones”), mix sets from different DJs can be heard every evening.
