The Lentua is a lake in the Finnish countryside of Kainuu .
With an area of 77.84 km², it is one of the few large lakes in Kainuu. The lake is at an altitude of 167.9 m. Its catchment area covers 2045 km². The main tributary is the outflow of Lake Iivantiira to the north . The Lentua flows over the Lentuankoski rapids to Lammasjärvi in the south . From there, the water flows over the Ontojärvi and Oulujärvi lakes and the Oulujoki river to the Gulf of Bothnia .
The place Kuhmo is a few kilometers south of the Lentua.
