Leo Gerger

Leo Gerger (born February 24, 1923 in Klein Olkowitz ; † November 30, 2001 ) is an Austrian painter , graphic artist and enameller born in South Moravia .

Live and act

Gerger already had the intention of entering the arts and crafts during his professional activity in the Ostmark ceramics in Znojmo . He served as a radio operator in the German Wehrmacht and was expelled from his South Moravian homeland after the war. Gerger graduated from the art school in Linz from 1947 to 1951 with Karl Hauk and then worked in the jewelry industry until 1967 and then as a freelance artist.

The artist, who lives in Linz, presented his works to the public in numerous solo and group exhibitions, mainly in Austria.

In 1986 he was given the professional title of Professor .

  • One of his most important works is the bronze-cast Stations of the Cross in the chapel of Haslach Hospital (1975).
