Leo Gerstenzang

Leo Gerstenzang (born June 3, 1892 in Warsaw , † October 1973 in the United States) was a Polish-American inventor and entrepreneur .

Gerstenzang grew up in Warsaw in a Jewish family. In 1912 he emigrated to the United States and initially lived in Chicago and later in New York City. Gerstenzang is considered to be the inventor of the modern cotton swab for cleaning the ears . In 1923 he invented the Q-Tips cotton swab , which was first called Baby Gays and was renamed Q-Tips in 1926. Gerstenzang founded the Infant Novelty Company .
