Leo Lis (born May 10, 1924 in Beuthen , † September 20, 1969 in Berlin ) was shot while trying to escape at the Berlin Wall .

On the evening of September 20, 1969, the 45-year-old milker from the Kamenz district tried to cross the sector border from East to West Berlin in the area of ​​the North Station . He had already overcome several barriers when he was discovered and shot at by border guards around 8 p.m. He managed to pass the column path, the control strip and the curbs before one of a total of 78 bullets hit him in the chest. He died before he was evacuated.
