Leopold Wenger Institute
The Leopold Wenger Institute for Legal History has united the chairs of legal history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich since 1956 . It is divided into the two departments of Ancient Legal History and Papyrus Research, headed by Johannes Platschek, and Bavarian and German Legal History, represented by Hans-Georg Hermann and Susanne Lepsius (as of November 2018). The institute owes its name to the legal historian Leopold Wenger , whose important library formed the basis for that of the institute.
