Leopold Buczkowski

Leopold Buczkowski (born November 15, 1905 in Nakwascha , Galicia , † April 27, 1989 in Warsaw , Poland ) was a Polish writer, painter and graphic artist.

Life

Buczkowski was born in the village of Nakwascha, then part of Galicia, which is now in Brody Raion of the Ukrainian Lviv Oblast . His two brothers were killed during the UPA attack on Podkamień . The Buczkowski family had to flee to Warsaw , where Leopold took part in the Warsaw Uprising . After the war he devoted himself to literary and artistic activities.
