Leopoldo Praxedis Morales

Leopoldo Ricardo Praxedis Morales (* 1953 in Apizaco , Mexico ) is a Mexican graphic artist .

He achieved great fame with his linocuts. Some of his works are strongly reminiscent of the works of José Guadalupe Posada . He is also known for his political activism. His works are permanently exhibited in the Pinakothek in Colima .

From 1974 until his expulsion in August 1981 he was part of the Mexican graphic artist collective Taller de Grafica Popular . From 1977 to 1989 he taught art education in the drawing department at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes .

In 1990 he had a solo exhibition in room 9 of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. In 1994 in Nicaragua he co-founded the artist collective Grupo de Vagoni .

Around 14 prints from this period are in the Taller de Gráfica Popular collection of the Bancroft Library at the University of California, Berkeley .
