The Charlotte-Taitl-Haus learning and memorial site is dedicated to the victims of National Socialism and Fascism in the Ried im Innkreis district and represents an extension of the city history exhibition at the Innviertler Volkskundehaus Museum . The initiative for this project came from the ARGE Lern- und Gedenkort . The basis is the publication “National Socialism in the Ried im Innkreis district. Resistance and persecution 1938-1945 ”by Gottfried Gansinger, supplemented by research by ARGE members. In May 2015, Roßmarkt No. 29 was named “Charlotte-Taitl-Haus”. The ceremonial opening of the learning and memorial site took place in May 2017.

Charlotte Taitl (born May 15, 1896 in Thomasroith / Ottnang - died October 16, 1944 Auschwitz ) is one of the 196 known victims of National Socialism and fascism in the Ried district . The aim was to give the victims their names back and thus to tear them away from oblivion.

The dates and life stories of 26 victims are told on biography steles. In an info box at the end of the room, all information about National Socialism and the time before and after in the Ried district is posted . Further in-depth information can be called up using a touchscreen, and there is also a workstation with a PC and Internet access for research.

The Charlotte-Taitl-Haus learning and memorial site is an inclusive exhibition with equal access to information for everyone. Through oral history -Interviews, historical audio documents, sign language , using QR code retrievable lighter-reading texts new technologies are used to obtain information.

The Charlotte-Taitl-Haus learning and memorial site adjoins the city library, through which the exhibition is accessible free of charge during its opening times. In the passage area of ​​the passage, black plate boards with the dates of birth and death of the victims direct visitors to the entrance. The space itself opens up through remembrance and is designed as a "white cube" to provide space for remembrance, commemoration, reflection, ...
