lernu! (in Esperanto the imperative for: "learn!", "learn!") is a multilingual website for information about and assistance in learning Esperanto.

history

The idea of lernu! The website was created in April 2000 at the first Esperanto @ Interreto (E @ I) seminar in Stockholm. In July 2002 the project received support from the Esperantic Studies Foundation. The website was published on December 21, 2002 and has been maintained by E @ I since then.

A CD was released several times parallel to the website . During the years 2004 to 2006, different versions of the website with additional material appeared outside the Internet: music, programs and other Esperanto courses. The current version is usually made available on the Internet; it appears on CD or DVD with some delay.

The websites are available in around thirty languages and learners have the opportunity to communicate with language assistants in their national language.

In addition to many courses at different levels, advanced services and resources are also provided: dictionary , grammar overview , stories read with pictures, introduction of Esperanto, chat, library with books, music and films. There are also games, various forums and messages from the Esperanto movement.

In mid-2007, 1.3 million page impressions were achieved by 77,000 visitors a month.

The website was relaunched in the summer of 2016 , in which the course material and the multilingual web forum in particular were renewed and a responsive web layout for use via mobile devices was introduced.
