Leroy Hutson

Leroy Hutson (born June 4, 1945 in Newark , New Jersey ) is an American soul singer , composer , record producer and songwriter .

Life

Leroy Hutson grew up in New Jersey . Here he made his first unsuccessful attempts to found local vocal bands. Since 1967 he was together with Donny Hathaway member of the Mayfield Singers , who released a single for Curtis Mayfield . In 1970 he studied at Howard University, Washington, DC , where he shared a room with Donny Hathaway and attended classes with Roberta Flack .

After Donny Hathaway's hit The Ghetto , on which he had participated, he was the successor of Curtis Mayfield in the group The Impressions from 1970 to 1973 . Since 1973 he has released several solo albums, the most famous of which are Love Oh Love (1973) and The Man! (1974) are.

From 1992, Hutson retired from the music business for nearly two decades. In 2009 he finally released his comeback album Soothe You - Groove You as "Lee Hutson" .
