Vocal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vocal describes a short song or saying that is often repeated in an otherwise exclusively instrumental piece of music . In the extreme case, it only consists of a single word. Its purpose is to encourage the listener to sing along and to increase the recognition value of the piece. Vocals are particularly widespread in electronic music because they fit better into the composition due to the repetitive arrangement that does not follow conventional song structures.

In electronic music in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was common for the same vocal to be used in multiple pieces of music, even by different artists. An example of this is the vocal James Brown is dead! which appeared again and again in numerous pieces of music.
