Life

Jochen Rieger studied music from 1977 to 1983 - majoring in piano and minor in trumpet - and geography in Karlsruhe and Stuttgart . This was followed by studies for artistic teaching at high schools at the same time as postgraduate studies in jazz and popular music, which he graduated with awards in 1985.

In 1986, Jochen Rieger joined the Christian publishing house Gerth Medien as a music consultant and took over the management of the music department from Margret Birkenfeld . She also made him head of the Schulte & Gerth Studio Choir and the Wetzlar Youth Choir , which soon dissolved into the Perspektiven founded by Rieger and the Studio Choir . With the Schulte & Gerth Studio Choir , he played both classical and modern choral concepts such as Living Psalms and The Most Beautiful Choirs in the years that followed . In 1994 he gathered the vocals , a formation of top-class Christian pop musicians, for the first time for the gospel album Day By Day . Jochen Rieger also became a permanent arranger and producer for established artists such as the Wir singen für Jesus Chor , Die Wasserträger or the new discovery Werner Hoffmann . In addition to Klaus Heizmann , he shaped the later youth choir movement on the Christian music scene.

With the end of the youth choir movement in the 1990s, more and more concepts with solo artists such as Albert Frey , Lothar Kosse , Anja Lehmann , Martin Pepper and others emerged.

As a pianist and keyboardist, Jochen Rieger published a number of instrumental albums, some enriched with vocal interludes or other instruments. In 1983 he released his debut album, A musical letter, recorded with a self-made electronic organ.

Jochen Rieger worked as a producer and A&R manager at Verlag Gerth Medien until 2011 . He has been working as a freelancer since February 2012.
